SIGMA KAPPA
European Alumnae Chapter

Service
The European Alumnae Chapter participates in a unique annual fundraising event on the first day of Summer. In support of Sigma Kappa's dedication to gerontology philanthropy initiatives, the chapter participates in the Alzheimer’s Association’s “The Longest Day,” a sunrise-to-sunset relay event to raise funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. Because we are scattered around the globe, each sister participates in their activity and then conducts a candlelight ceremony at sunset in their own time zone. We are proud to have participated in this event since its inception and consistently raise thousands of dollars for this great cause.

The EAC is dedicated to Sigma Kappa’s value of service and often find unique ways to contribute to Sigma Kappa causes wherever we are in the world. If you would like to suggest an event or fundraising opportunity please get in touch
In addition to our own philanthropic efforts, the European Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Kappa actively supports the Sigma Kappa Foundation. The mission of the Sigma Kappa Foundation is to fund educational programs that promote intellectual, leadership, and ethical development among members of Sigma Kappa and others, and to benefit society through philanthropic endeavours including grants for Alzheimer’s Disease research and gerontology studies.
Programs supported by the Foundation include:
-
Scholarships for undergraduate and graduate studies
-
Member education and leadership programs, including convention speakers and the leadership consultant program
-
Grants for Alzheimers and Gerontology studies
Although members are not required to participate in philanthropic or fundraising events, activities are often planned, according to member interest.
